Perez Apple founded Perez Apple & Company in 1995 to help professionals
strengthen their communication skills and break down the language
barriers that exist because of accented speech. Ms. Perez Apple has had
first-hand exposure to the sounds of accented speech and its
difficulties through her immigrant parents who she acknowledges have
spurred her passion for helping others as an accent reduction coach and
linguist.
As principal of Perez Apple & Company, Ms. Perez Apple works with
individuals and organizations to develop communication skills programs
that will promote the use of clear, understandable American English. The
company’s expertise in developing accent reduction training and coaching
programs for middle and senior managers, business owners, job seekers,
broadcast journalists, medical professionals, graduate students, and
clergy members has consistently improved its clients’ ability to speak
English clearly and confidently.
After receiving a Master’s of Arts in Linguistics, Ms. Perez Apple
trained with Lorna Sikorsi, M.A. CCC-SP, Daniel Dato, Ph.D., and at
American Speech-Hearing Association (ASHA) continuing education courses.
She has taught as an adjunct instructor of Corporate Communication, ESL
Speech, and English Pronunciation at area colleges and universities and
is a member of the American Society of Training and Development (ASTD),
Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), and is a
graduate of Leadership Miami 1987.
“As a linguist, I understand the structural aspects of different languages-- the sounds and rhythms that mix with English that might make it difficult to be understood. As a trainer and coach, I enjoy helping people build an awareness of language and its use so they can modify their accents to produce clear, understandable speech.”
Mission
"To help people speak English so that they can be more clearly understood and be able to fully participate in their community and workplace. Speaking English more clearly not only facilitates communication of one’s expertise, but promotes the ability to better engage with clients, patients, customers, staff and families."
